If you use these secrets, you can have the proper, effective, and successful smile-cleaning routine you need to prevent dental issues and keep your oral health in tip-top shape! Our dentist, Dr. Melissa Maus, is happy to share these secrets with you.

The first secret is to brush your teeth enough. Many people brush their chompers, but they don’t do it enough. The American Dental Association recommends brushing twice a day for two minutes daily. So, time your brushing routine by turning on a two-minute YouTube video, setting a timer, or playing a short song.

The second secret is to keep your toothbrush clean. Many people place a cover over the bristles to keep them clean, but this can be dangerous if the bristles are still wet. A moist environment invites bacteria to live and multiply. So, when you’re done brushing, thoroughly rinse the bristles and then set the toothbrush upright to air dry.

The third secret is to look for the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. This logo proves that the oral hygiene tool has been tested and approved for safety and effectiveness in an oral hygiene routine. So, if your brush, paste, floss, and rinse have this logo, you’re all set.
